Facilities

Facilities

The available equipment to perform the R & D tasks of the group, can be grouped into the following categories:

Laser sources

Work stations for laser material processing

Auxiliary equipment for work stations

Equipment for characterization and analysis of materials

The group has also direct access to the general characterization facilities at the CACTI centre of the University of Vigo where large equipment is available such as scanning electron microscopes, transmission electron microscopes, x-ray diffractometer, r-ray fluorescence spectrometer, TOF-SIMS, nanoindentation, etc

Laser sources:

It is a unique laser park composed of more than 20 different laser sources including Nd: YAG lasers, CO2 lasers, Fiber lasers, Diode lasers, Nd:YVO4 IR ,VIS laser, UV laser, picosecond laser, femtosecond laser, Er laser, Tm laser.

Auxiliary equipment for work stations:

Different processing heads (cutting head, supersonic cutting heads, welding heads, laser cladding heads), pneumatic powder feeder, high speed cameras, motorized pyrometric sensors, pressure and temperature sensors, or data acquisition and processing systems.

Work stations for laser material processing:

Different systems with 3, 4, and 5 axes. Including a microtexturizing system in a controlled environment, or a unique system of "Laser Spinning" for manufacturing nanofibers

Equipment for characterization and analysis of materials:

In-house equipment such as Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet-visible spectrometer, microhardness tester, roughness meter, goniometer for measuring surface wettability, universal machine for mechanical tests, system for measuring the electrical properties of materials, system for measuring optical properties of materials by "Flash Laser".
